AARON CONLEY MUST BE WATCHED!

Aaron Conley is one of my very favorite up and comers!
You can check out more of his work and his collaborations
with Damon Gentry at:  http://www.invademyprivacy.com.
Their "Next SECRET project from a major publisher"
is knockin' me out and I'm eager for more!  You'll guess
what I mean when you see Aaron's "Madman Monster"
piece in full when it hits shelves in a few days.  Here's a tease:

MATT ALLISON CALAMITY!

One of the most wonderfully weird discovery's of recent
memory was stumbling across the artwork of Matthew
Allison (thanks to future superstars Damon Gentry and
Aaron Conley, more on them soon) and his gnarly gem,
the self-published CALAMITY OF CHALLENGE.
Do what you can to find a copy and prepare to hide
under your covers  afterwards.  The (any day now)
"Madman Monster" includes a piece by Matt and a
Jam piece where I drew Matt's "Calamity" characters
dancing it up with Frank "Madman" Einstein in the
monstrously hugely appropriate 11 x 17 HC format.
Dig it!!

TOO MUCH SHANNON WHEELER!

I have it on good authority that
THE MADMAN 20th ANNIVERSARY MONSTER!
is going to hit the shelves of your favorite local comic
shop by the first week of February.  Bug 'em if you
haven't already.  This baby will sell out fast and you
will kick yourself if you don't have a copy  to prop up
that short table leg.  PLUS you won't have the entire
"Mr. New Yorker Cartoonist" Shannon Wheeler
masterpiece previewed below.

MATT WAGNER STRIP!

Matt Wagner wrote the first fan letter I ever got before
anything of mine was ever published!
Actually it was a very encouraging post card.  My first
book, DEAD AIR, was coming from Slave Labor
Graphics based in San Jose, and Matt was living there
at the time.  SLG publisher, Dan Vado, showed him
my stuff and Matt gave me the biggest boost of confidence
I could have received via a post card to Germany, where
I was living and working as a TV reporter for AFRTS.
We both ended up moving to Oregon (my home state)
at roughly the same time and he's been one of our best
pals ever since.  Now we're even in a book club together.
Other than my big brother, Lee, he may even be the
most well-read guy I've ever known.  I think he reads
about two dozen books every week.  Theres' no keeping
up with the guy!  It was a huge thrill to get his strip for
the "MADMAN MONSTER".  Here's a sneak peek:

JAY STEPHENS SNEAK PEEK!

Emmy-winner Jay Stephens has been ripping me off
for years.  It's very satisfying to see him finally pay
some restitution with his super swell strip for The
"Madman Monster"  It's a beaut!  Sincerely, we love
Jay and encourage everyone to hunt down everything
he's done.  http://www.jaystephens.com/

STEVE SEAGLE & TEDDY KRISTIANSEN!

Steve Seagle was the guy who made it
all happen for me.  No kiddin'.  He was
the first comic pro I ever met, right after
his first series KAFKA (with Stephano
Gaudiano) was published and right before
he did THE AMAZON (with Timmy Sale).
He not only gave me my first professional
advise on DEAD AIR but got me my first
paying gig, the still unreleased JAGUAR
STORIES.  That gave me the confidence
to drop my broadcasting career and dive
full-time into making comics.  And I've
been a full-timer ever since.  Thanks Steve!
And Teddy is a valued pal of incredible
talent as well!  Check out his art blog:

JEFF SMITH MADNESS!

Jeff popped on the scene with his
masterpiece BONE the year before
MADMAN arrived and I've always
viewed him as a kind of big brother figure.
Just like my real life big brother, Lee,
I've always looked up to him, been inspired
by him, and Mom has always liked him best.
Thrilled Jeff is part of this "monster celebration"!
Days away and you all will be able to see everything in full!

ERIC POWELL IN THE "MONSTER"!

I can promise you that you will LOVE Eric Powell's strip
(unless something is terribly wrong with you)! One of many
worth the price of admission.  It's a-comin'!  It's a-comin!
The book exists!  It came out BEE-YOO-TEE-FLEA!
Now we just need to get it on the shelves of all the
friendly neighborhood comic shops!  "But at least I have mine",
says evil Michael to the angry torch-weilding mob.

PAUL POPE ROCK 'EM SOCK 'EM MADMAN!

Here's a guy that knows how to put ROCK n ROLL
on paper!  My kinda guy!  And here's a lil' peek at
part of Paul's "MADMAN MONSTER" strip!

MICHAEL AVON OEMING MADMAN!

For his contribution to the MADMAN 20th ANNIVERSARY
MONSTER, Michael Avon Oeming goes retro and revisits
Frank Einstein as he was "coming right out of the box!
Here's a sneaky peek, Folks!  Mike is the GINCHIEST!

B.E.M.! MIREAULT MADNESS!

I think it would be accurate to say that I wouldn't have
a career if it wasn't for Bernie Mireault.  His terrific THE JAM
was one of my biggest inspirations in the creation of
Madman. And he was there with friendship and support
inking the very first Frank Einstein story and painting my cover
pencils for that first appearance in CREATURES OF THE ID.
Hunt down every thing he's done and find bliss.  Love ya Bernie!
Please enjoy this partial peek of his "Madman Monster" strip.

PAT McEOWN PEEK!

Man, I love this book! And I'm getting a big kick out of
sharing these little teasers for the "MONSTER".  I also
get a big thrill turning people on to Patrick McEown's
most recent masterpiece, HAIR SHIRT.  You might have
to hunt a bit to find a copy, but it will be well worth the
treasure hunt.  Go get that treasure!

ERIK LARSEN'S "SAVAGE" MADMAN!

Steve Rude, Bernie Mireault, J. Bone, and Darwyn Cooke
are the artists that have drawn Madman/The Atomics the most, right?
...next to Erik Larsen that is... the Savage Dragon/Atomics crossovers
were a big kick and I'm thrilled that the most prolific Erik
took the time to play in the new "Monster" special.
