IT EXISTS!!! MADMAN MONSTER IN MY HANDS!
Christmas Eve Eve! Fresh out of the box moments
ago and just in time for Christmas in the Allred household
we got our advance copy of The Madman 20th
Anniversary Monster! So big and beautiful! As you
can see, it's big enough for kids to make a fort out of it!
KYLE BAKER sneak peek!

coffee table book (just put legs on it) is
almost here! And here is another sneaky

ALLRED MADMAN 20th MONSTER TOUR!
We'll be posting a complete list of dates and venues
in the next few weeks for all our appearances in 2012
for celebrating Madman's 20th anniversary (some of
which THE GEAR will perform as well) . Off the top
of my head I can safely state that we'll be appearing at
Stumptown in Portland, Emerald City in Seattle, Denver,
TR!CKSTER/ComiCon in San Diego, & Baltimore.
Gonna be a GINCHY year whether the Mayans were right or not!

Sorry for being off the blog for sooo long.
Been crazy busy since ComiCon and hope

MONSTER" hitting a shelf near you very soon:
And here's a CU peek of something you may

CBR TV YACHT INTERVIEW!
When in San Diego, for whatever reason, CBR TV asked to interview me at their yacht tied up in the Marina near the Marriott where we were staying. I happened to have a Beatles era "yacht hat", so it was easy to oblige. If you're into hearing some dude blab on endlessly about himself, this could be for you: http://video.comicbookresources.com/cbrtv/2011/cbr-tv-cci-mike-allred-on-twenty-years-of-madman-jack-kirby-the-rocketeer-more/
I got a free custom CBR kazoo out of the deal too!

iFANBOY LUB: MY CAREER IN 30 MINUTES OR LESS...
I love comic books so very much! And it's always a gas
to get excited and talk up my fave comic books new and old.
What a trip then to hear folks express excitement about
MY contributions to this wonderful industry/art form.
I'm humbled, yet happily eager to show this off:

CRITERION AKIRA KUROSAWA TRIBUTE!
One of the nifty events at TR!CKSTER
was a CRITERION sponsored gallery/auction
tribute to the great AKIRA KUROSAWA.
My contribution was YOJIMBO where I
depicted the Italian (FISTFUL OF DOLLARS
via Sergio Leone) and American (LAST
MAN STANDING via Walter Hill) remakes
standing behind the legendary original,
TOSHIRO MIFUNE.

BACK TO THE OL' DRAWING BOARD. LITERALLY!
I never get tired of saying that. Can't say "back to work",
because what I get to do all day most days is an insult
to real work (I do that too, but avoid it best I can). So,
back to my "day job" which I love. Go, PENCIL! GO!!!
ALLRED TREK!
After landing at the Portland Airport from San Diego
with less than 30 minutes until the start of the phenomenal
TREK IN THE PARK (this year: "MIRROR MIRROR")
one miracle after another occurred: first luggage off the plane,
mysterious appearance of perfect parking place, and
running into pal, Adam (Captain Kirk), as we came in who
gave us his "special reserved seats" front and center.
What a gas! This show is pure joy, played with a skewed
sincerity that elicits gigantic bursts of love from the audience.
Next year: "JOURNEY TO BABEL"!

THE LIPSKI BEAT!
Our pal, Christian Lipski, wrote a terrific summary
of the San Diego experience with some photos by
his lovely and talented wife, Deborah Curtis Lipski:

THE GEAR APPEAR AT TR!CKSTER/COMIC-CON!

Play along with your fave GEAR song while watching the slide show!
BACK HOME FROM ComiCon!
Absolutely one of the best weekends we've ever had.
Nothing like seeing so many old friends in one place and
making new friends in droves. So much to report, but
I'll keep it brief for now with deadlines needing to be
tackled. TR!CKSTER was a smash! Scott and Ted
have created an exciting new monster that we are thrilled
to be charter members of. THE GEAR shows were a kick,
with our full set on Saturday possibly being our favorite
show ever. We'll post a slideshow soon.
Oh yeah, and we won an EISNER AWARD for
WEDNESDAY COMICS! What a GAS GAS GAS!
